Refresh your coastal decor for fall

Refresh your coastal decor for fall

Why Fall at the Beach is the Perfect Time for a Cozy Refresh!

Fall is my absolute FAVORITE time to be at the beach! The crisp air, golden sunsets, and soft, warm sand create the perfect backdrop for decorating. Here are my favorite coastal-inspired tips for bringing a touch of fall into your home—while keeping things light, airy, and beachy.

1) Use What You Have

Coastal homes are all about simplicity and balance. Swap your usual decor from room to room—maybe move those woven seagrass baskets from the kitchen into the living room. Add subtle fall textures like driftwood, seagrass, or rope. A few real pumpkins nestled among your existing decor add that touch of autumn without losing the laid-back coastal vibe.

2) Forage for Natural Texture

Embrace nature’s! Take a walk along the beach or through a park and gather texture-rich items like driftwood, smooth stones, seagrass (fake or pampas grass instead of "stealing" from the beach), or dried palm leaves. These can easily be added to trays, dough bowls, or layered between neutral-toned pumpkins. Beach finds in soft, earthy tones creates a calm, fall-inspired coastal feel.

3) Splurge on a Focal Point

Every space deserves a statement piece. Consider one of our wood signs with a coastal fall quote or oversized neutral-tone pumpkins made from natural materials like rattan or wood. Homegoods is still my go-to for those standout pieces—like the stunning collection of pumpkins they featured from my decor on Instagram! It’s worth investing in one or two key pieces that can anchor your fall theme.

4) DIY Coastal Fall Decor

Give your decor a refresh by painting pumpkins in soft, beachy neutrals like creamy whites, sand tones, or sea-glass blues. Even those budget-friendly orange pumpkins from Dollar Tree or Walmart can be transformed with a little paint and creativity. The combination of soft fall hues with coastal elements will make your space feel fresh and inviting.

5) Shop Local for Natural Finds

Your local farmer’s market or pumpkin patch is perfect for finding unique fall decor with a coastal twist. Pick up soft-hued gourds, wheat stalks, or dried grasses. I always grab a few bundles of wheat from our local Publix, and and snag pumpkins from a local patch! They add natural texture while maintaining that laid-back beach charm.

6) Infuse Fall Scents

No fall decor is complete without the cozy scents of the season. My go-to? A simmering pot of water with imitation vanilla and a sprinkle of cinnamon. The subtle warmth fills the air with a welcoming aroma, perfect for those moments when you need a quick fall refresh.
