When you purchase a handmade sign from Anchored Soul Designs, you're doing more than decorating your home with a piece of coastal art. You're making a direct impact on causes that matter deeply to me, my family, and the community we call home on Amelia Island.
I want to share a little about where a portion of our proceeds go, and why shopping small is a powerful way that you can give back.
Why Shopping Small Makes Your Dollar Go Further
When you buy from a large corporation, your money passes through many hands before it ever reaches a cause. There are shareholders to pay, layers of management, marketing departments, distribution centers, and countless overhead costs that eat into every dollar spent.
When you shop small, it's different. As a one-woman (and family-supported!) operation, the money you spend comes directly to us, and we get to decide where it goes. There's no board of directors to answer to, no quarterly profit targets to hit. Just a mama on Amelia Island who loves the ocean, loves her community, and wants to do good with what she's been given.
The Causes Near and Dear to My Heart
Sea Turtle Conservation
Living on Amelia Island means sharing our shores with some of the most incredible creatures on earth, sea turtles. Sea turtle watch programs do vital work monitoring nests, protecting hatchlings, and educating the public about how to coexist with these ancient animals.
A portion of our proceeds supports these efforts because the ocean wouldn't be the same without them.
Aquariums That Protect Sea Life
Aquariums do so much more than entertain. They rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured marine animals, conduct critical research, and inspire the next generation of ocean stewards. Supporting aquariums that prioritize conservation means supporting the health of our entire ocean ecosystem. When you buy a sign from us, you're helping fund that mission.
We've chosen a few different aquariums over the years to support, and they are always ones that help animals rather than using them for entertainment!
Local Libraries
Libraries are the great equalizer. They give every child, regardless of income, access to books, learning, and imagination. As a mama, I know how much reading shapes a child's world. Supporting our local library means investing in the kids of our community and giving them the tools to dream big. It also helps that I absolutely love to read, and our local library offers a huge book sale several times a year that benefits our libraries. That's where I stock up!
Feeding Families in Need
Food insecurity is closer to home than most people realize. Local food banks and feeding programs work tirelessly to make sure families in our community don't go hungry. This cause is personal to me because no family should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from, especially in a community as beautiful as ours.
