Amelia Island Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival
Share
This week is perfect if you want to get out and do something fun and beachy! Did you know Amelia Island is called the Isle of 8 Flags and is the birthplace of the modern shrimping industry? It’s a pretty interesting history lesson, but I mention that because the Isle of 8 Flags Shrimp Festival is the first weekend in May.
It’s a great way to get out and support our local businesses. They are all stocking up with locally made goodies to prepare for all the visitors coming this week. Thursday night is the parade and music, then Friday through Sunday downtown will be bustling with local shops and restaurants, and the streets will fill with vendors, food, and music.
I have stocked up Island Vintage Market inside of Antiques and More on 8th Street with lots of shrimp signs, plus lots of other coastal signs!
Whether you are here this weekend or visit us another time, I hope you will support our local small businesses, and enjoy our gorgeous beaches and our spectacular sunsets along the river!
